Scott Gwin tells me the AZloco ( http://www.azloco.com/ ) has received their shipment of Ubuntu 10.04 disks from Canonical. People may pick up a copy at the Installfest or the East Side meetings and Stammtische. Ubuntu and Kubuntu Desktop as well as Server disks are available. FIXED! - Email List Servers Down Temporarily

UPDATE 3:56PM: As you may have noticed, the email list service is back! Yeeha!

Last night the PLUG email server failed an update and is now not running. This is frustrating for our users. We apologize for the down time.

The issue is NOT a problem with Deru, our gracious hosting company. They are helping us to correct the problem as soon as possible. Please be patient as the issue is resolved.

In the mean time, you may find the PLUG IRC channel a useful place for support and discussion of Linux topics. Please point your client to irc.freenode.net and connect to channel #plugaz.

Thank you!

Etc/GMT-7

Thursday's presentation is the first part of an Introduction to The Semantic Web based on the Allemang & Hendler book: Semantic Web for the Working Ontologist, effective modeling in RDFS and OWL.

This book is one of the best introductions to semantics, ontologies and the semantic web and in this presentation, part one of two, you will become familiar with this field's terminology as well as its basic technology. The focus is on understanding the tools, the resources, and the way of thinking that makes the semantic web the next important step for the Internet[1]. In part two, we will take these foundations and focus on implementation, how to add elements of the semantic web to your current Internet assets. Dean Allemang and Jim Hendler have produced an excellent introduction to the Semantic Web, which if it is to be as important as many think, will have to be a Free Semantic Web.
